JOYCE Shaw has won a tight Upper Beeding Parish Council election.

Mrs Shaw recorded 297 votes after a 32 per cent turn-out in the village.

Her closest rival, BNP supporter Donna Bailey, picked up 277 votes while 196 villagers voted for Becki Davoudi.

Mrs Shaw said: "I'm delighted to have won of course.

"I want to thank all the people who have voted for me.

"It was a very close run thing."

Big turn-out.
