BRAVE cancer charity campaigner Natasha Hammerton has died, aged 27.

Tributes have flooded in for the young Horsham woman who inspired a generation of fundraisers with her determined fight to raise awareness of ovarian cancer.

Leave your tributes to Natasha in the commenting section below.

For a full tribute to Natasha and her incredible charity work, see this week's edition of the County Times.

Natasha's proud mum Bernadette was with her when her long hard fight with ovarian cancer finally ended at St Catherine's Hospice, in Crawley, on Sunday June 15, at around 11.15pm.

Bernadette has shared her memories of a 'brave' and 'strong minded' woman.

"She always had a strong sense of humour through the whole thing," she said.

Natasha's family supported her throughout her campaign for Ovarian Cancer Action.

Brothers Alex, 23, and Joe, 18, said their sister was a fighter who had made a real difference.

Alex said: "She always had a lot of friends.

"Socialising was what she loved to do."

Joe said: "She always had an impact on people."

Steve Younce,

It is with great sadness, but sincere hope, that I write to you to express my condolences to the family of Natasha Hammerton. I did not know her. But, if she created a big ripple in the pond as it appears she did with her campaign to inform and combat ovarian cancer, then she and my wife were kindred spirits.

My lovely Jane laid siege to her ovarian cancer for over two years, all the while she advocated for education, awareness, and research fundraising to defeat this enemy of women everywhere. Jane went home to our Lord on June 5, 2008. She was 52 years old.

Jane’s platform was as a community columnist for the Noblesville Ledger (Noblesville, Indiana). She wrote for the paper for ten years, and wrote a series of informational articles for the two years she fought her battle. Her recent memorial service drew over 250 people, and generated three newspaper articles in two newspapers in tribute to her efforts. We are currently working to set up an annual fundraiser and memorial event to honor her efforts.

It is encouraging to know that Natasha appears to have had a similar and amazing strength of purpose as did my Jane. Through Jane’s efforts we connected with other ovarian cancer patients throughout the U.S, U.K., Australia, and Singapore. I have no doubt that Natasha was an inspiration to others, and that her life’s efforts will contribute to an effective early detection test, and ultimately the prevention and cure of this insidious disease.

My heart is with her family in this difficult time. Regrettably, I know exactly how they must feel.

Steve Younce

I was Natasha's Dad from when she was 2 years old until she was around 13 and I still remember the lovely, vibrant little blonde thing who made everyone smile. Things didn't work out and that's unfortunately the way of the world...but she has always had a place in my heart and I, along with her immediate and extended family, am devastated by her passing.

She will be sadly missed both here at home and as far afield as Australia where she is sadly missed by family.

Tash, my thoughts and prayers are with you, your Mum, Alex, Joe and Bethany and I will always be glad and proud that you were part of my life. Say hello to my Mum and Dad for me...you enriched their life as well as mine.

Sleep well. gorgeous.

You will be missed Tash, we had so much fun causing trouble at Yes Car. I followed your progress over the last couple of years and really hoped you could beat this. I am sure your family will continue to raise awareness of this disease so that others will not suffer as you did. Thinking of you and your family at this time. I will always remember how much you loved them and spoke about them. RIP Tash. Charlotte xxx

Tash, you were a big part of my life for 5yrs. I often wondered how life was treating you and was upset to find out you were ill and hoped and prayed you could beat it. Sadly that was not to be, you may be gone now, but never forgotten. Sleep well peep peep, Jus' xx

Tash you had to be one of the most remarkable people I have ever met. So strong and highly spirited no matter what life chucked your way. You were always fun to be around and never failed to make the people around you smile.
It goes without saying you touched everyone you met and Im sure, like me, many admired your courage and looked up to you.
you will never be forgotern

This is a story about a woman i knew, who was brave, bold, loyal and true,
a woman who took what ever came her way, without a sigh or moan.. she would just say...
We're raising money and making people aware, Some money in the pot please, she'd say (with a wink and a stare)
All of us wished we could make it better, just make this thing disappear,
But it seems you were to good for this world, so he took you back my dear!
I speak for all when i say these words you'll be missed as missed can be,
But i hope whatever your doing now... your smiling wild and free.

With Love always xx

Tash, a great friend- always so full of life and well up for a laugh. You made radiophone more bearable whilst we worked there. I'm glad your pain has ended now and I know that wherever you you are now you are smiling and having a laugh! Until we meet again
brave friend

love always xxx
