A MAN was arrested on suspicion of murder after police found a woman's body in a flat in Horsham's Needles estate.

Police were called to Godwin Court, at the corner of Jockey Mead and Blackbridge Lane, shortly before midnight last night (Saturday March 22).

A statement from Sussex Police said: "Officers found the flat was insecure.

"Inside they located the body of a female, age currently unknown.

"It was apparent to the officers that the lady had suffered injuries and was deceased.

"In the same flat officers also found a man, close to the body.

"That man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, and is currently being questioned at Crawley police station."

The name of the victim has yet to be officially released.

A Jockey Mead resident, who asked not to be named, said she thought she had heard a scream late that night.
