FRIENDS and neighbours have today paid tribute to Rhona Heywood, the Horsham woman believed to be the victim of a suspected murder in the town on Saturday.
Sussex Police said formal identification had not taken place after officers found the body of a woman at a Needles Estate flat in Godwin Court, Jockey Mead, shortly before midnight on Saturday (March 22).
But residents on the scene have this morning (Monday March 24) spoken of their horror at the death of Rhona, an elderly woman who was well-loved by the local community.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

She said: "Rhona fought illness for many years and battled to save her independence.
"I only knew Rhona for 18 months and although set in her ways, she was one of the most kind caring people I have ever known.
"Her two cats that she rescued were her life and treated like princes.
"She will be sorely missed."
A friend, who asked not be named, said Rhona was a kind woman who had been like a mother to her son when he was her neighbour.

"It makes you feel sick."
