A FORTY year old Horsham man has appeared in court charged with murdering his neighbour.

Martin Garratty, of Godwin Court, is accused of murdering Rhona Heywood, 65.

In a brief hearing before Crawley magistrates on Tuesday March 25, Garratty spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

Prosecutor David Holman said police were called to Godwin Court at 11.30pm on Saturday March 22.

He said Chichester Careline had told police that the pendant alarm in Miss Heywood's flat had been set off.

The court heard that when officers arrived they found her body on the bedroom floor.

Garratty was remanded in custody until April 8, when he is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court.

There was no application for bail.
