Murder investigation - alarm alerted police
POLICE rushed to the scene of the suspected Needles estate murder after the victim triggered a community alarm, Horsham District Council leader Liz Kitchen revealed today.
Conservative Mrs Kitchen said police had told her Rhona Heywood, 65 - whose body was found at a flat in Godwin Court, Jockey Mead, on Saturday (March 22) - was able to call for help using a Horsham District Community Link Alarm.
Mrs Kitchen said: "Our thoughts go out to the family of the victim.
"I understand from the police that because the lady had been able to use her Horsham District Community Link Alarm, their officers were able to get to the scene quickly.
"Despite this awful event which has greatly shocked the community, I would like to stress to all residents that we still live in one of the safest parts of the country."
