Shouldn't Horsham FC be concentrating on securing a groundshare for next season before this pie in the sky newbuild? The weight of public reaction from residents and from numerous members of the Holbrook Club is that the application will be opposed causing at best long term delays to HFC's plans.
Was the Holbrook buy a sound idea when it was always speculative on the hope of gaining planning permission?

At last we have movement from HFC on their plans to totally ruin the highly residential area of Holbrook with their football stadium, which will generate noise, light and litter pollution in this lovely quiet area.

I trust the Cabinet, Councillors and Planners of HDC give the decision this daft application deserves - REFUSE.

I am totally against the development, a residential area, which we have lived in for over 10 years is not the location for the proposed HDC complex. There is no doubt it will cause noise, litter, parking problems along with ageneral disruption to those living in this quiet area.
I hope that those who are enpowered to protect the community, will do just that and give this application the 'REFUSED' vote.

I can understand that some local residents' immediate reaction to the Holbrook development is negative, but the worries mentioned above are ill-founded.

Go to Queensway or Queen Street on a Saturday afternoon; you will hardly be aware that there is a football match going on. Go into the Atspeed Stadium; you will not see any litter. Modern floodlights focus very precisely on the area they are supposed to illuminate; they create hardly any light pollution. They can also be retracted when not in use. The Holbrook development includes much more car parking than is currently available at the present ground; there should be no parking problem.

And don't believe people who tell you that thousands of rowdy undesirables will be descending on you every week; the reality is about 500 good-natured residents of the same town as you, once a fortnight, occasionally once a week, plus the odd exile like myself, often accompanied by our children, enjoying a game of football, supporting the team of which the town should be proud. Even if promoted, the team wouldn't draw in many more fans; the best supported side in the division above (Newport)averages 900 - they probably wouldn't even run a coach for a trip as long as this.

The "problem" is nowhere near as great as some would have you believe.

This is first and foremost a residential area and the majority of residents who live here neither need nor want this development. Crowd noise, music, announcements, air horns etc will disturb young and old. Evening matches will disturb the sleep of many young children living in the area. I imagine there will be a bar, and I have no desire to have our peaceful streets disturbed by swearing and litter from fans, either home or visiting. As for car parking, there is already a problem with the Holbrook Club on this matter, as their recent application to use the North Heath Industrial Estate car park at weekends already attests. I gather they are also out to appropriate the church car park at North Heath Lane. Things will only get worse for local residents. And the more successful the club becomes, the worse a time the local residents will have of it.
