Ashington tragedy - victim named as Craig Chard

POLICE have formally released the name of the teenager who died on the A24 near Ashington as trainee chef Craig Chard.

The tragic accident happened just after midnight on Saturday morning. Two vehicles were involved.

Eighteen-year-old Craig, of Timberlea Close, Ashington, known affectionately as 'Bulky', is believed to have been walking from a friend's home and died while crossing the road.
