A total of 1,000 litres of flood water was pumped away from the Brighton Road at Pease Pottage during yesterday’s (Monday October 28) storm.

Firefighters spent over three hours in the morning clearing the water near to the services and junction 11 of the M23.

A fire service main pump and a Highways Agency gulley sucker were used.

The incident was handed back to the Highways Agency around lunchtime in preparation for the re-opening of the road.
