Tom Hard's winning picture

A picture of a willow tree, taken by Horsham photographer Tom Hard, won a first prize in the 2012 RHS photo competition.

Tom’s picture was the winning entry in the society’s ‘plant portraits’ section.

Tom, 26, a former employee of Horsham Photo Centre, told the County Times he took the picture - the first he has submitted to the RHS’ annual competition - in Regent’s Park in London.

He has a selection of pictures available for purchase online at: www.photo4me.com/tomhard

“I’ve had the luxury of being able to travel around a bit,” he said.

“The New York and Rome photos I particularly liked, and there’s a quite nice one of a spiral staircase in the Vatican.”

Organisers said they had a record number of entries this year, having gone digital and allowed entries to be submitted via their website.
