Regular readers of this column may recall the name Lettuce Arnold, a Horsham resident heavily involved with the local Suffragette movement.

“Don’t Forget the Children. Dear sir, whereever one goes this appeal catches the eye. May I suggest to your readers that while assisting the Children’s Aid Society they should not forget the Horsham children, but should send a donation however small, to the local ‘Children’s Care Committee’.

“Gifts of clothes and boots are welcome as well as money. Our funds are quite inadequate to the work that lies befoere us, which includes the providing of extra nourishment for sick or needy children as well as maintanence in hospitals or convalescent homes. Lettuce Arnold, Horsham Care Committee, The Causeway House, Horsham.”
