The Electric Theatre was in the Carfax in Horsham. Several years later it was where Sir Michael Caine had his first acting role.

“Under instruction from the Chief Constable, Supt G. Wakeford. applied to the Bench for the stoppage of certain songs at the Electric Theatre which were considered objectionable.

“The proprietors of both Picture Halls were in Court. On the Chief Constable handing in the words of a song to the Bench the Chairman said they were suggestive and indecent.

“Matters such as these would be considered when the licences came up for renewal.”

After much debate, the theatre owners decided to withdraw the songs.
