Have your say

Not sure whether this is a cheeky bit of advertising or a genuine attempt to allay housewives’ fears.

“Some 1,400 or more Troops living in the homes of our people have put a strain on the resources of many housewives. When a family is, say doubled, one can imagine the extra provision to be made, not only in the matter of food and the cooking of it, but in the more permanent side of the household stocks, such as bedding, household linen etc.

“Messrs Chart and Lawrence have experienced quite a run in their household linen department, but thanks to their system of carrying good reserves of stock they are always prepared for all business that comes their way.”
