It’s likely the scene at Slinfold was very similar to the one that can be viewed today at the cricket field.

“Fortunately for the Slinfold Cottagers’ vegetable, fruit and flower show finer and warmer weather than of late prevailed on Wednesday, and there were many visitors to the Cricket field, which, centrally situated was an ideal site for this all-important social fixture.

“The exhibits were staged in three marquees, the largest being for the horticultural and the two smaller for needlework and cakes, potatoes &co.”
