Public apathy reigns from the public for local elections. Interesting that polling only took place in the town hall.

“Urban council election at Horsham. In spite of strong attempts at Horsham on Monday to whip up the votes there was a much smaller poll than on the occasion of the last contested election. in 1911.

“As usual Mr Samuel Mitchell, the Clerk to the Horsham Urban District Council, acted as Returning Officer, and polling took place in the Town Hall, divided into three compartments, two downstairs and one upstairs.

“Voting was so slow that in one section there were only three votes in the first half-hour. The total number of votes cast was 3,758.”
