An interesting letter to the paper from a Horsham man based in Newhaven.

“The ‘Terriers’ at Newhaven, Sir, Your paper reaches me every week and we read the news of our old town with interest; we notice that so far you seem to have very little tidings of us (the Horsham Company of Territorials).

“Rumours of every description reach us of how we are faring here, many being baseless. ‘Grousers, of course, are to be found in every body of men but so far we have not had much to complain about.

“Our food is good and plain, our duties are not heavy and we do our share of guard.”
