Work on Horsham’s North Street is featured in this, the latest in our daily news reports taken from the West Sussex County Times of 1914.

“Keen interest has been shown the last few days in the preliminaries afoot for the all-important widening and improvement of North Street.

“Next Monday the Town Surveyor (Mr Robert Renwick) will have a large number of workmen ion the job, which the council, thoughtfully held back till winter to provide employment at the most acceptable period.

“So far the work has consisted of setting out the new line of frontage, the width of the pavement and the centre line of the new storm-water drain, with the piping to the ditch in the field.”
