We reported a few days ago in this column that notice was sent out that packages may be dropped from planes.

There was no indication what the package would be and this report doesn’t really clarify matters.

“Aerial despatch. Soon after 12 o’clock midday on Tuesday, a despatch was dropped from an Army aereoplane passing over the town and fell in Norfolk Road.

“On the envelope were the words ‘O.H.M.S.To the finder of this message. Please send off enclosed telegram, 6d enclosed.’ A black and white streamer attached to the envelope was weighted with a stone.

“The finder at once handed the message to the police and it was despatched without delay.”
