A nasty accident that resulted in a fatality.

“A fatal motot accident occured at Hardham Causeway, Pulborough, on Thursday week.

“George Evans, 64, of Chichester, was riding on a furniture van attached to a motor lorry and in order to warn the driver that a motor car was approaching (the communicating cord being broken) left his seat and ran to the driver.

*Evans was knocked and run over by the van, his right leg being completely severed just below the knee. He expired before the Royal Sussex County Hospital at Brighton was reached.”
