We aren’t sure what entertainment the ‘Lancashire Lass’ provided, but the Temperance Campaign was very strong in 1914 and Horsham resident Jury Cramp was a local leading light.

“In connection with the Temperance Campaign the “Lancashire Lass’s” visit on Monday was a great success, the large hall being well filled with a most appreciative audience drawn from the town and district round, with whom the lady is a great favourite.

“The Rev C. Partridge presided, and spoke hopefully of the advances made, averring his opinion that the Temperance Reform was on a Sciptural basis.

“Mr J. Cramp also gave an address.”
