Bertrand Russell was a prominent anti-war activist who went to prison for his pacifism during World War I.

His wife Alys was well known for her work with the health centre St Pancras for Mothers.

“The Horsham Suffrage Society has been fortunate in the choice of its speakers at its annual meeting on Friday next.

“The afternoon address will be given by Mrs Alys Russell R.A. better known as the Hon Mrs Bertrand Russell, who had so much to do with the celebrated St Pancras for Mothers.

“Mrs Russell will speak on the ‘War and Infant Welfare’.”
