This was still the early days of the street lamps that we all take for granted.

“Horsham Urban Council: The Electrical Engineer reported that all plant was running well. New consumers continued to come on and there were now 26,284 lamps connected with a further 30 applied for.

“In Upper North Street two of the large lamps had been burning without globes for some time in order to form a comparison and test the desirability of burning the lights naked.”
