Regular readers of this column will realise that ‘the Misses Blunt’ were a shining example of charitable work and generous spirit.

“Thanks to the forethought of the Misses Blunt, of Springfield Park, Horsham Soldiers and Sailors (at the front or serving in the fleet) have every prospect of each receiving an excellent Christmas parcel.

“The idea originated with these ladies and caught on at once. Horsham tradespeople on being approached most kindly promised very generous gifts in kind.

“Already cheques and small subscriptions of money for the Fund have been received from friends in and around Horsham.”
