An interesting item from 1914 showing the relative values of property back then.

“At the King’s Head Hotel on Wednesday Messrs John Churchman and Sons submitted to public auction property at Little Haven and Rudgwick.

“A freehold detached villa residence, called Chennell’s House, with ornamental flower and large kitchen gardens was knocked down to Mr Baker, of Hove for £450.

“The same purchaser secured lot 2 (an adjoining plot of freehold building land) for £75.”
