It would be interesting to know where the ‘illuminated address’ ended up.

“At the call of their king and country and for the honour of Britain the following members of the staff of the Horsham Urban District Council’s Electricity Works served in His Majesty’s Forces: H.L. Biles, Royal Engineers (Territorial); W.J. Smith, Royal Engineers (Territorial); V.W. West, 4th Batt Royal Sussex; E.B. Davies, Army Service Corp.

“God of our fathers, known of old

“Lord of our far-flung battleline

“Beneath whose awful hand we hold

“Dominion over palm and pine

“Lord God of hosts, be with us yet

“Lest we forget, lest we forget.

“The above is the text of an illuminated address (the work of Mr J.B. Morgan, Electrical Engineer at Horsham), in frame of oak, which has been on view at Messrs Hunt Bros premises in West Street, Horsham.”
