Nearly 100,000 people worked on a voluntary basis at home and abroad for the Red Cross Society during the First World War.

“Mr H. Dennis, of St Leonards Park, left last week for the front, with several motor ambulances.

“He was accompanied by Mr John Innes, Mr Eden Paget, and Mr Walker, and all these gentlemen will act as chauffeurs, working with their cars under the Red Cross Society.”
