Very lucky escape for a young lad - luckily the bike took the brunt of the impact.

“At about four o’clock on Saturday afternoon Herbert Buck, aged 13, errand boy in the employ of Messrs Wickersham and Johnson, house furnishers and decorators of North Street had a narrow escape from serious injury.

“In cycling from the Carfxax into London Road he appears to have taken too narrow a turn and collided with a motor car being driven round the corner.

“Buck escaped with bruises and a cut hand, but his bicycle was smashed.”
