We’re not sure if free-wheeling contests are still held these days.

“Horsham Unity Cycling Club: On the club run last weekend a free-wheeling competition on Baybridge Hill was held and proved both interesting and amusing.

“Mr A. Wood secured the first place covering 839 yards, with Mr E. Tomsett second 21 yardss behind.

“Contraray to expectations the racing members, who had their light racing cycles, with the chain taken off, went much farther than the heavier roadster patterns.”
