The Silver Band was well known in the town, often playing in the bandstand for people out for a stroll.

“Horsham Recreation Silver Band. The members of the above-named Band leave Horsham for Horley at 9.40 on Easter Monday morning to take part in the Southern Counties Amateur Brass Band Association’s contest.

“In all about 25 bands will compete. The “Recs” have entered the champion section in which there are seven competitors, and have as their conductor Mr J. T. Ogden, late of the Besses O’ the Barn and Kingston Mills Bands.

“All friends will wish them success on Bank Holiday.”
