Soon after the war started, German prisoners were arriving at Horsham station.

“At about seven o’clock last evening a batch of 22 prisoners arrived at West Horshamn from Dover, in charge of an officer and a detachment of the Royal Sussex Regiment.

“They reached Horsham Town Station by motor train from Three Bridges and changed into the Brighton train for Christ’s Hospital, being locked into carriages with their armed custodians.”
