In this, the latest in our daily news reports taken from the West Sussex County Times of 1914, a man pays dearly for a merry Christmas.

“Charles G Hendrick pleaded not guilty to being drunk in Horsham on Christmas Day Evidence was given by PC Beacher and PS Stenning to the effect that the defendant was incapably drunk,

“Fined 2s 6d. costs 4s. As he only had 5s the Bench made it 5s inclusive.”
