Police seemed to be very strict with any bad behaviour by the armed forces 100 years ago. They were particularly tough on anyone thought to be absent without leave.

“Thomas J. Hedger, of the R.F.A., at Bordon Camp, who did not appear, was summoned for drunkeness at Partridge Green.

“It appeared that defendant was staggering about with his tunic undone. Fined 2s 6d.”
