It seems that the weather was just as bad 100 years ago than it was in modern times.

“East Parade Infants’ School. On Friday afternoon Mr F. E. Sendall presented the prizes to all those little ones who had made 93 per cent, or more, of the attendences possible during 1913.

“Notwithsranding the inclement weather, a goodly number of parents and friends were present.

“While complimenting them on their pluck in venturing out in such a day Mr Sendall remarked that Horsham was better favoured than some places, for he had recently heard of prize-givings at schools that could only be reached in boats.”
