We mentioned Douglas Harvey’s death a few days ago and this is the church service for the young man.

“An impressive service in memory of Second Lieutenant Douglas Lennox Harvey was held in the pretty little church at Colgate on Monday morning.

“The deceased officer, who was only 22 years of age, was killed by a shell while fighting in the trenches with the 9th Lancers on November 3rd.

“He is the second son of the Rev E.D.L. Harvey, J.P. of Beedingwood who is greatly esteemed throughout the county and consequently there was a crowded congregation of sympathetic mourners.”
