Not surprising that emotions ran high for this case. However, it’s interesting to note that a few days later the case was dismissed.

“At Horsham Town Hall yesterday morning Annie Margaret Tullett (wife of Frederick Tullett, a working foreman) of 4 Hampton Cottages, Maplehurst, Nuthurst, was brought before Mr A.C. Oddie charged with receiving blankets, ham and tea from Shoreham Camp, well knowing the goods to be stolen...

“Mr Oddie said it was the most contemptible case he ever met within his life.”
