HUNDREDS of people made their way to Horsham Park today (Sunday) for Sparks in the Park.

This free family festival, organised by the district council, focused on the fact that the 2012 London Olympics is just a year away.

There were several sport themed events and clubs taking part and visitors, particularly youngsters, had the chance to have a go at tennis, golf and other sports.

The day was started by children’s TV favourite Dave Benson Phillips, along with Chris Oxlade and the HDC 2012 mascot Ringo.

Also expected during the day were CBeebies presenter Sarah Jane Honeywell and special guest paralympic swimming champion Sascha Kindred.

Bensons Fun Fair was also open in the park.
