Challenge of the trail
A wide-ranging feast of theatrical delights will be on offer at this summer's Arundel Theatre Trail, now in its tenth year.
Running during the Arundel Festival from August 21-28, the trail - conceived and produced by Arundel's Drip Action Theatre Company - continues to grow in popularity.
This year attracted 85 submissions from writers from as far afield as Australia and the USA, entering the Festival's Play Competition in their bid to be discovered as the UK's next major playwright.
The selection panel have whittled them down to the final choice - and, as always, the great attraction, indeed challenge, is to see them all in a day. Each is timed to give you the chance to turn up in good time for the next.
The evening play Blackbird by David Harrower takes place from August 23-28 at The Victoria Club, Tarrant Street, Arundel, at 8pm each evening.
The day-time plays are:
11am - The Inner Soprano by Simon Brett. Behind every successful man there's a woman biting her lip. St Mary's Hall, London Road, Arundel.
12 noon - Cariad by Lucy Lucy. Can young hearts always run free? 55 Tarrant Street, Arundel.
1pm - Timetable by James Vollmar. A remote train station, central Europe, mid-30s. Serious cat and mouse games. The Victoria Club, 14 Tarrant Street, Arundel.
2 pm - The Visitor by Dean Laccohee Should one heed the comfort of strangers? 28 High Street, Arundel.
3pm - Fit Piece by Helen Shay. Work out, watch out. India Gate Restaurant, Mill Road, Arundel.
4pm - Breaking In by Adrian Reynolds. A hotel – last chance saloon for a troubled relationship? Check out the garden. The Swan Hotel, High Street, Arundel.
5pm - Tilapia by Rosemary Frisino Toohey. A bemused post-mortem on a dinner party that took off unexpectedly. 57 Maltravers Street, Arundel.
6pm - A Short Demonstration by Andrew Turner. Watch out for Adele, the make-up demonstrator who takes no prisoners. St Mary's Gate Inn, London Road.
