A CHARITY car wash raised more than £200 for the Poppy Appeal.

Mayberry Garden Centre, Old Shoreham Road, Portslade teamed up with the 1140 Steyning Squadron of cadets whose members washed customers’ cars for a donation to the appeal.

Chris Harland, who works at the garden centre and is also a volunteer at the squadron said: “The guys worked tirelessly all day and we had a huge number of satisfied customers.

“Everyone has been really supportive and the amount of money raised was fantastic.

“Mayberry provided the buckets, sponges, soap and everything we needed. We shall definitely be back again next year.”

More than £250 was raised on Saturday (November 12) and the money was presented by the squadron to the British Legion at the Remembrance Sunday service.
