WE WERE sad and disappointed to read Mrs G. Baker's comments concerning the Midnight Walk (County Times, June 27).
St Catherine's was very conscious of the need to minimise any inconvenience to Horsham residents, while ensuring the safety of our participants by devising a street-lit route.
We did as much advance publicity as possible so that local people kn
ew the walk was taking place, and advised participants to be sensitive about noise when walking through residential areas.
Many charity walks are held at midnight to create a sense of occasion and challenge for participants.
The ladies who took part raised sponsorship which will fund end of life hospice care, provided free by St Catherine's for local people.
We have received a huge amount of support and positive comments about the walk, but of course we will take on board all of our local community's feedback when planning future activities.
We would like to thank all of the walkers, the volunteer helpers, Horsham District Council, St John Ambulance, RAYNET and the many others who helped us to organise this event – your contributions are greatly appreciated by everyone at St Catherine's.
