MAYOR of Brighton and Hove Ann Norman enjoyed a musical romp through the ages from 1066 to 2060, courtesy of Towers Junior School, Upper Beeding.
'The Keymaster' is an innovative play which guides the cast and audience through key points in history - from the battle of Hastings, to the Guy Fawkes plot, to the women's suffrage movement.
Written by Nick Perrin, the lead role was played by Holly Frazier-Mills.
Headmistress Carole Baker said: "The Mayor was particularly amused by the scene from the Battle of Hastings where her namesakes - the Normans - conquered the Saxons.
"By 1918 the suffragettes were gaining votes for women - most appropriate in an all girls school."
Councillor Norman began her education at Walpole Lodge, Brighton, which was once owned by The Towers.
She will be returning to the school in June to present prizes to Year 11 leavers.
