A HUGE music festival will rock Horsham this summer - and it's going to be totally free of charge.
But in order to make it a success local bands are being urged to come forward and put their names down to play.
The independent Horsham District Live Music Alliance (HDLMA) is backing a massive live event that is planned for July 10 and will feature
in excess of 30 bands.
There will be four different venues across the town that will be used for staging live music including the new Blackhorse Way Forum, the Carfax, the Bishopric and The Drill Hall in Denne Road.
Organisers are hoping to encourage a wide range of musicians and bands, and to offer something for everyone's particular musical tastes.
The festival is the brainchild of Graham Smith from Horsham who has organised a similar event in Devon.
He has secured the backing from the HDLMA and Horsham District Council (HDC) as well as significant funding.
Graham said: "Anybody who wants to be part of the festival, be that performing or just helping out on the day, should just give me a call.
"Of course this is a free festival relying on volunteers and goodwill so if anybody out there is interested in sponsoring part of the event I'm sure I could spend a few minutes talking to them."
An emphasis will be placed on bands with a link to the Horsham district but musicians from outside the area can also apply to perform.
Equal billing will be given to every act, ensuring that there is no favouritism to particular groups or singers.
The festival will not only showcase local talent but could attract as many as 20,000 people to Horsham town centre.
Graham, who is also a member of the HDLMA, explained: "We are very excited about the festival; it offers a fantastic opportunity for bands and groups to showcase their music to a wider audience.
"The Horsham district is fast becoming a recognised centre for live music and the festival can only add to that growing reputation."
The need now is for bands to put themselves on the list and for volunteers to come forward.
The Horsham Music Festival will not be the only live event for music fans this year.
An acoustic night, dubbed 'Horsham Unplugged', has been arranged to take place at the Drill Hall in Denne Road on April 28 at 7pm.
The evening will feature four local bands and singers, Oom, Threewheeler, Rachel Hawker and Nick Paxton.
For tickets, ring the box office at the Capitol on 01403 750220.
The price is £10 including a buffet or £5 without. HDLMA members can knock £1 off these prices.
Booking early is recommended.
