Rudgwick residents' chance to voice opinions

THE SAME group that produced the Action Plan now being implemented for the parish of Rudgwick has completed a draft Design Statement for the parish, one of the first areas to do so under new planning rules.

Supported throughout by the parish council, and chaired by councillor Peter Tanner, who was recently elected chairman of the council, the steering group has laboured long to produce a document which explains the historical and topographical background to development in Rudgwick, deliberating also on the character of the hamlets of Bucks Green, The Haven, Tismans Common, Rowhook, and Cox Green, all of which are in the parish.

I am the new chairman of the steering group and would say that we have aimed to cover all possible aspects of any future development including the look and feel of our beautiful ridge-top and Arun valley countryside, how property and garden frontages should look, and how to marry up the modern with the traditional.

There will be a consultation evening at the village hall, Bucks Green, at 8pm on Monday November 3.

The group hopes to welcome as many residents of the village and hamlets as possible and to get useful feedback before going ahead with the final version in the New Year.

All households have received a draft copy which they should bring along. Refreshments will be provided.

The draft may also be seen on Horsham District Council's website. All comments must be received by November 14. Details of how to do this are in the document and on the website. The Design Statement will become part of supplementary planning guidance.
