Obsession with archaic ritual

I have long thought that this obsession people have with fireworks should be strictly controlled and limited to specific dates, eg November 5, and New Year’s Eve only.

Where I live there have so far been ten consecutive nights of noisy fireworks.

Therefore I was very pleased to read the letter from Joyce Sloan in the County Times of November 8 and heartily agree with every comment she made.

She echoed my thoughts totally and I have every sympathy with her concerning her dog and his reaction.

People have little thought for their animals - indoor or outdoor creatures - as long as they enjoy themselves whilst pursuing this archaic ritual.

The animals suffer and don’t understand it, and frankly neither do I.
