THE 'SHELLEY fountain' is currently out of action in the Bishopric.

This large sculpture has brought criticism as well as plaudits over the years.

But what do you think? Has it enhanced the town or is it a waste of space?

I have never seen the point of the Shelly fountain. I understand that the council wanted to commemorate the great poet, but why with such a hideous creation? It is always breaking down and is probably costing the council more money to maintain than a statue of shelly would do.
Why don't the council cut their losses and get rid of what i can only describe as a white elephant, and put something more attractive in it's place.

I have always thought that the Fountain was an inappropriate form of memorial; given the manner of his death. A rumour circulating at the time of installation suggested that it had already been rejected by another town. One can only suppose that it was offered at a good dsicount. I thought that it looked better when it was half finished.

We think the Shelley Fountain is hideous - it has always been known as "The Blob" in our household.
It may be suitable for a large urban concrete space, but is totally out of place in its more intimate setting in our lovely market town.

A missed opportunity to commission a piece of thought provoking contemporary art, although the location doesn't help... surrounded by some of the least attractive aspects of the town (McDonalds, Wilkinsons, The Lynd Cross).

What an inappropriate waste of money when local pensioners on fixed incomes are struggling to pay their Council tax!

The idea of a separate Horsham Town Council has created much debate recently. Do you think:
Horsham should have its own town council.
The current system of neighbourhood councils should remain
Not interested in who looks after the town.
