Two people were taken to hospital today (Tuesday) after a five car smash on the M23.
The accident took place between junctions eight and nine on the busy motorway just after 7am.

One car caught fire following the crash but all of the occupants managed to escape and all three emergency services were on the scene.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said: "One male and one female were taken to East Surrey Hospital for precautionary checks. We made the scene safe and left the incident in the hands of the police."

One lane of the motorway was closed while the cars were cleared and the scene made safe.
