The former owner of Crawley Town football club appeared in court today (Thurs) accused of evading tax on his multi million pound fortune.
Businessman Azwar Majeed, 32, is alleged to have avoided the revenue for four years, Southwark Crown Court heard.

He is also accused of hiding £491,810 in used notes in a safety deposit box.

Majeed faces a charge of concealing criminal property between September 5 and October 3, 2006.

He is also charged with 'failing to account properly or at all' sums of income tax and capital gains tax owed to the Inland Revenue derived from 'trade and capital gains received' between April 1, 2003 and March 30, 2007.

Majeed did not enter pleas and spoke only to confirm his name.
He will next appear before the court on December 19.

A six-week trial is set for February 2 next year.
Judge Andrew Goymer granted the defendant bail.
