A BUILDER took drastic action and knocked down his own work after a customer failed to pay for improvements to a council house.
Nigel Gray (44), from Lancing, repeatedly asked tenant Anita Dovey for payment for work he completed on the property in Elizabeth Road, Shoreham, but to no avail.

Finally, last week, Mr Gray decided to take action and demolished the porch and conservatory worth £15,000.

He said Mrs Dovey had permission from Adur District Council to do the work to the house, which he completed just before Christmas last year. The work had been done at an agreed price of £14,900.

But he said Mrs Dovey gave a string of excuses and missed deadlines for payment.

He also said that cheques he received bounced.
